I'm sure others have thought of that before, but I don't think I've seen it addressed here so far. I don't play many shooters online (Mag and this one are the only ones I really got into) but I've tried my hand a bit at Battlefield 3 the other day. There was one feature I wish Dust had: If you press "select" (Playing with a 360 controller) when having your cursor over an ennemy infantry or vehicle, you can tag that enemy for it to be displayed for a short while to your team members on the radar/map. I think such an ability would work great in Dust, maybe a skill to unlock for scouts?

I like that. |

Jagen Marez wrote:Dev posted in the "don't show enemy arrows" thread that with respect to the futuristic nature of the game (paraphrasing of course) if your teammate sees an enemy, that enemy location is broadcast over the data net allowing you to see it. So bam, its already in game just with less tedium and more automatic...ness.
I see, well cool then, I just hope it works... no way to tell if it's possibly bugged or not, as I can't look at my team-mates radars. |

I think it could definitely be visualized or somehow communicated better. Perhaps like you see the teammates chevron and the enemy he has visual on blink in sync so you can tell who sees what.. something like that maybe. I too often find myself shooting at teammates because I cant tell if they are friendly towards me... and more often than not they are doing the same so we get this feedback loop of shooting each other until we realize neither of us are dying and then become aware of the moment of mutual futility we just took part in.
I've throwen about 3 AV grenades at a friendly tank yesterday cause I didn't see a marker... lol |

If you don't see a red chevron, upgrade your sensor skills and your suit will identify them sooner.
As I understand it, the base sensor range is VERY short and line of sight.
Better skills boosts the range considerably.
The tagging thing takes something that is currently automatic and makes it tedious to accomplish.
However, if a scout had a sidearm kind of weapon that silently planted a bug that ALWAYS reported somethings location, then that I would support as tagging.
So if you see an enemy through your sniper scope you should just upgrade your sensors or get closer? I accept the sensor argument for non-line of sight detection, but if I have eyes on target I should be able to mark them.
I agree, often time I'm yelling in the mic to tell my allies where an ennemy is, cant I just mark it for them to see whith their own eyes? |
